Program 1
Module 1
"Introduction"
It includes an introduction about the Supreme Education Council and the Education Reform. It includes as well the ASPIRE code of conduct and workshops protocols.
Module 2:
"English Curriculum Standards"
It includes an overview on the curriculum standards. The Curriculum, which includes all curriculum subject areas, is the whole teaching programme – all the subjects and activities that students experience in the timetabled day, after-school, clubs, and visits.
The Curriculum is not a set of textbooks. Textbooks are just one of the many resources that can support the curriculum
Module 3:
"Application and Use of Curriculum Standards in Teaching and Learning Strategies."
It includes a deeper look into the curriculum standards. It shows how the curriculum standards provokes critical thinking and suggest modern learning and teaching strategies.
"Traditional methods might have a place but students will need a much wider range of active experiences if they are to solve problems, think creatively, enquire, criticise and evaluate."
Module 4:
"Teaching and Learning Resources"
It introduces different teaching strategies and resources.It shows how we could mix different ingredients to come up with a healthy as well as tasty salad.
We could use the following resources to come up with an interactive,effective and interesting lesson plan:
1. The curriculum Standards as the main resource.
2.The text book and other resources (internet, books, teachers ...etc)
3. Sample of lesson plans provided by the SEC.
4.Schemes of work provided by the SEC .
5. Higher Order thinking questions and skills.
4. Differentiatied activities and supprt.
5. Teacher's creativity.

Module 5:
"Unit Planning"
It is mainly a practical session to teach teachers how to plan a unit plan using all available resources.
Here is a sample of a unit plan that you may use or dapat to suit your planning:
Module 6:
"Daily Lesson Plan"
Most lessons will provide a beginning, a middle and an end in which the teacher prepares students for what they are to learn, teaches them, then helps them to consolidate their learning and to recognise what they have achieved. This structure allows a variety of patterns of teaching methodology and organisation, depending on a lesson’s objectives and its position in a series of lessons.
Module 7
"Classroom and Behavior Management"
Module 7 introduces important and effective stratgies for establishing and maintaining behavior and classroom management.
Module 8
"Assessment:An Overview"
"The cycle of planning, teaching and assessment is a continuous one. Good teaching is based on good planning, and good planning is informed by effective assessment."
There are 2 main types of assessment:
Assessment of learning:
-Generally carried out at specific times during the
school year
-Enables teacher to identify what a student has
achieved.
-For example: Diagnostic, Summative , Norm-
referenced, Criterion - referenced assessments.
Assessment for learning:
-Generally ongoing in the classroom
-Enables teachers and students to plan for future
teaching and learning opportunities.
-For example: Formative, Self and Peer
assessments and Evaluative assessments.
Module 9
Assessing Students' Learning
In this module, you are trained to :
- write smart objectives .
- use some strategies to assess your students in the calss
- Give your students oral feedback on written work.
Module 10
ICT Integration
The English standards draw on and apply ICT in a variety of ways:
•through the use of word-processing software for planning, composing, editing and presenting writing;
•as a source of information via the Internet for reading for information – developing comprehension, search and retrieval, synthesising and summarising skills;
•for email to communicate and learn to control the genre;
•as a reference system for dictionaries, thesauruses and spell checking.
Program 2
Program 2 is a further consolidation of program 1 in some parts and an exploration of new areas of teaching that are worth considering. The Program is made up of 5 workshops pertaining to:
· Critical Thinking
· Using Groups
· Writing Objectives
· Lesson Planning
· Reading Literacy
